House Panel Seeks Testimony Of H-P Attorney, Investigator
WASHINGTON - The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee has
requested additional witnesses to appear at the upcoming hearing titled,
"Hewlett-Packard's Pretexting Scandal."
Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., sent
letters Monday to Hewlett-Packard's senior counsel, Kevin Hunsaker, and computer
security investigator Fred Adler.
The subcommittee has also requested testimony from now-outgoing chairman of
H-P, Patricia Dunn, as well as from H-P general counsel Ann Baskins, H-P global
security manager Anthony Gentilucci, outside attorney Larry Sonsini, private
investigator Joe Depante, owner of Action Research Group in Melbourne, Fla., and
Ron DeLia, operator of Security Outsourcing Solutions Inc., in Boston.
The subcommittee will convene for a hearing on H-P at 10 a.m. on
Thursday, Sept. 28 in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The hearing is part of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee's
seven-month inquiry into data brokers and the questionable practice known as
"pretexting" - the use of lies and deception to gain access to
information that is not publicly available and without the victim's consent.
